There are quite a few other nice cities in Germany which are worth visiting. These are in my opinion Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Köln, Dresden.

I don%26#39;t know how much time you want to spend in Germany. For Berlin you should have at least 3 to 4 days. If that leaves you with some spare time you could visit another city as well.

I would second all four of the cities mentioned by BerlinGal. One notable exclusion she made, however, is Munich, though it is situated right in the south of Germany and probably not ideal for a stopover between Amsterdam and Berlin.

Probably the most convenient city to visit would be Cologne (%26#39;Köln%26#39; in German). Cologne has direct rail links with both Amsterdam and Berlin. Cologne is situated on the river Rhine and has a world-famous catherdral. Also of interest are the %26#39;Rheinseilbahn%26#39; (an aerial tramway which crosses over the Rhine), the %26#39;Schokoladenmuseum%26#39; (chocolate museum), Hohe Straße (a major shopping street), %26#39;Phantasialand%26#39; (a large amusement park), and the numerous river cruises and boat trips from the banks of Rhine.

You can check train information between Cologne and Berlin/Amsterdam on Deutsche Bahn%26#39;s website (www.bahn.de); click on %26#39;Internat. Guests%26#39; for the English-language version.
