My husband and I will be laying over in Frankfurt for approximately 6 hours. Rather than sit in the airport, can anyone recommend an activity/tour within this time period? We will be arriving in Germany during the end of this month.

From Terminal 1 you need 11 min by S-Bahn to the Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) and 15 min to the stop Hauptwache, which is the centre of the Altstadt (old town) and directly next to the main shopping street, the Zeil.
The Altstadt is pretty compact and everything is in walking distance.
In your case a %26quot;Gruppentageskarte%26quot; (mini group day ticket) will be the best deal, as it is with EUR 13,00 cheaper than 4 single tickets (EUR 3,35 each). Covers all local public transport (local trains (RB, RE), S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams, buses).
