Hi I%26#39;m seeking expert opinion. Two of us will be going to Garmisch-Partenkirchen from Munich for a day. We are thinking about going up Zugspitze and check out the view from the top. Here are a couple of questions maybe someone can answer:
1. Would the Bavaria Ticket cheaper and more hassle free than renting a car? How long is the train ride to get to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and then to the Zugspitze lifts?
2. we are going up but only I will do some snowboarding. I%26#39;ve been reading info on the resort website. What I%26#39;m unclear on is that is the roundtrip tram/cable car ticket same as the ski lift ticket? Once I%26#39;m on top I%26#39;m assuming I can ride the glacier (rent stuff once I%26#39;m on top?).

1. The Bavaria Ticket will be cheaper (EUR 25,00 - but entitles you to an EUR 4,00 discount for the Zugspitzbahn). Car won%26#39;t be faster, esp. if it will be snowing. You also have to find in Garmisch-Partenkirchen a place for your car. This won%26#39;t be for free.

2. There is no roundtrip ticket in Winter. Only a day ticket, which covers all the cable cars/lifts listed.

So skiing or not it%26#39;ll be the same day pass. One more clarification though, by Zugspitzbahn you mean Zugspitz-Zahnradbahn? They are one and the same?

The company %26quot;Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG%26quot; operates the Zugspitz-Zahnradbahn and the other cables-cars/lifts on the Bavarian side of the Zugspitze as shown on their homepage www.zugspitze.de
Only exception is the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn (a cable car from Ehrwald/Austria).
