Neighbouring towns of Dusseldorf

Hi, Like many people i will be flying out in june for 2 weeks for the world cup, but due to the high demand am struggling to find accomidation in dusseldorf itself. I wonder if anyone could suggest any towns near by where i could try to find a hotel, b%26amp;b, apartment etc.

Thanks in advance.

I worked in Dormagen, which isn%26#39;t too bad of a town. If you can find a hotel there, the S-Bahn will take you right into Duesseldorf.

Try Cologne (Koeln). It%26#39;s on the main RR line to Duesseldorf. For train schedules check www. bahn.de

Actually the situation in Dusseldorf should be less dramatic, since there are no games right at dusseldorf, but 16.000 hotel rooms within the city limits and 60.000 within a disctance of 20 minutes ride

if you check for hotels, make sure you try some differrent timeframes. i.e. 10th to 17th and 18th to 24th instead of 10th to 24th; maybe moving once or twice will make things easier. if there are one or two difficult days you won%26#39;t find the hotel if you just check for 14 days in a row

try

http://www.hotel.de/homepage.aspx?lng=EN

and choose the option %26quot;search within 20 kms%26quot;

a quick check showed there are still decent rooms for 60-80 euros left in case this suits to your budget

the public transport system works very well around dusseldorf

smaller cities that have easy access to dusseldorf and further on to gelsenkirchen, dortmund, cologne include

neuss (just opposite site of river thine to dusseldorf

ratingen (lots of hotels there, close to airport/fair)

erkrath (more rural, very nice surrondings)

meerbusch

krefeld (little bit out, about 20 min to dusseldorf)

duisburg, monchengladbach and wuppertal are all about 30 km away, but still only a 15-30 min ride by train though

if you have question on specific locations, feel free to ask

make sure to check with the official site fifaworldcup.com as well, even though this probably won%26#39;t be an option for two weeks, but maybe for a difficult night

worth a look are some private platforms that just opened up, this might be an option to all travellers that op for some budget nights
