Sales

Hello!

I%26#39;m coming to Berlin on Friday and I was wondering if this a sales period.If so, can you suggest any shop/area for shopping?? Thx!

I%26#39;m not sure whether the same is true of all of Germany, but I was in Hamburg last weekend and most shops there had their winter sales on.

Berlin is a vast city and has many shopping arcades and department stores spread out right across it. There is a nice shopping centre called Arkaden on Potsdamer Platz, which is also surrounded by nice bars and restaurants and cinemas (one of which even shows films in English).

In the west-central part of Berlin, the area around Tauentzienstraße and Kurfürstendamm is a magnet for shoppers. Here you%26#39;ll find the Europa-Center (shopping centre) and KaDeWe, Europe%26#39;s biggest department store after Harrods in London.

In east-central Berlin Friedrichstraße is also a mecca for those with money to spend. Amongst all the other shops, the only branch of the French deparment store Galeries Lafayette to be found outside of Paris is situated here.

Also, a little further away from the centre, but easily reached by the U-Bahn (U9 - %26#39;Rathaus Steglitz%26#39; or %26#39;Schloßstraße%26#39;), is the district of Steglitz. Schloßstraße is a really pleasant shopping street.
