overnight in Frankfurt- what hotel and what to do

Am considering a flight home which would give my teenage daughter and I an overnight in Frankfurt from around 5 pm to next am. Any suggestions re nice hotels in which to stay in areas near shopping sights, etc? Our arrival would be 4/14- a Friday. Thanks

As you are staying overnight, I would consider a hotel near Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). The area is a Frankfurt%26#39;s red light district and thus might appear a bit seedy but it is safe and gives you lots of hotels with easy access to the city (if you want, you can actually walk to the centre. Should take you max. 30 minutes and you get a nice impression of the city) as well as to the airport. Nice hotels depend very much on your budget.

knowing my daughter, would rather stay as upscale as possible. Any recommendations? Thanks

Hi,

i had a reservation for almost the same date in frankfurt. got a rate of 118 EUR for a double room incl. breakfast at the 5* Marriott. Got it through www.dhr.de - maybe it´s the same rate for your stay? good luck.. :-)

I know you mentioned Frankfurt, but I like to stay in nearby Mainz (on the Rhine), which has quick access to the airport (about 20-30 minutes by S-train). It is a nice town with a beautiful waterfront. The Hilton International or the Hyatt Regency might be good choices. Mind you, Frankfurt is a good diversion too--people do not always think of Mainz when they think of Franfurt Airport is my main point.

I can recommend you some really good hotels near the main train station in Frankfurt:

National Hotel (4 stars)

Continental (3 stars)

Colour (2 stars - completely newly renovated in Dec 2005)

Savoy

Le Meridien Parkhotel

Because it is a long weekend (Easter) try to book your hotel as early as you can.

Enjoy your stay!

I like the Holiday Inn Conference Center South. Fairly close to the airport and a really nice but cheap hotel. Sachsenhausen is within walking distance, this is the bar and entertainment area of Frankfurt famous for the apple wine (aeppelwoi). It is also only a short bus ride to the main shopping area (Zeil).

I just stayed at the Hilton Frankfurt with my mother. We loved it. It%26#39;s modern and clean, and in a great location. It%26#39;s just a few blocks from the Freßgass, a pedestrian street filled with cafes and restaurants, linking the Old Opera to the Hauptwache. It%26#39;s only a 10 or 15 minute walk from the Hilton to the Romer. Along the way you%26#39;ll pass a popular shopping area (Zeil). The hotel is next to a lovely park, and the neighborhood is nice and safe. One downside to the Hilton is the expensive buffet breakfast. But I think the location would be so handy for you since your time is limited.
