U-Bahnn system

Could you please help me with information on the U-Bahnn system in Berlin is it as deep underground as London or similar to the systems in Budapest and Rome.

Most stations are rather (or very) shallow, some very close under the street. Most have been built in the open method I think. A part of the network is above ground.

Some stations are elevated, e.g. Gleisdreieck and neighbouring stations (click on the U1 or U2 logo).

not just about U-Bahn (but also in English)

Gesundbrunnen 19 m below surface

Alexanderplatz (U5) 15 m

Märkisches Museum 6,50 m (which is already considered *deep* in Berlin)

There%26#39;s also the S-Bahn system, not just U-Bahn. In the centre some stations are underground on S1/S4 but much is above ground. As to Budapest i remember one station with an incredibly long escalator (terrified me!) so not everything is just below the surface even there.

The underground in Berlin is - as the others already said - not very deep underground.

If you still don%26#39;t like to go down there you have always the S-Bahn (which is mainly overground), the trams and busses.

Thank you everyone for your help

Look forward to my visit in August
