hi can anyone recommend a good hotel in hamburg, reasonably priced for 2 adults 7 1 kid.what areas are best avoided? thanks

I stayed at the Hotel Hafen, right on the harbour. It was a very nice hotel with great accessability.

If you have a kid best avoid the Reeperbahn area as it can be seedy and you will have to avoid answerng awkward questions about why the girls asking their dad if he wants a good time! I live in Hamburg and therefore don%26#39;t know what the hotels are really like, anywhere near the Inner Alster (Binnen Alster) should be OK as it is in the centre and within walking distance of the main areas. Public transport is much better then Glasgow%26#39;s clockwork orange and access all over is cheap and efficient. Hotels near the railway station (Hbf) are reasonably priced and central but the station can attract the wrong crowd, although it is well policed and I%26#39;ve never had any bother.
