if you%26#39;re from the UK you%26#39;ll find Berlin very cheap unless you have especially expensive tastes. Generally speaking expect to pay a euro for what would cost you a pound in the UK

|||

Don%26#39;t know what your expectation are, but Berlin is quite cheap (except for the luxury things) and you will probably spend about 2/3 of what you would pay in UK for the same.

|||

so do you think £350 will be enough for two of us for the week end?

|||

You can easily spend £350 on a weekend in Berlin but in generell that should be more than enough money to let you have a good time in Berlin.

A word of advice...

do not buy your euros in the UK. You will get a far better rate of exchange by simply using the German cash machines. All UK debit/ATM cards displaying the VISA, Maestro, Cirrus and Plus signs will work in German ATMs. When you insert your card, you will be given the option to carry out your transaction in English (as well as around three to five other languages). Then you enter the same PIN that you use at home.

It really is a lot safer than carrying £350 around with you. You can just draw what you need when you need it.

Rate of exchange is better but there is a transaction fee to pay. Check with your bank.

If there are two of you and each splits money in two places 500 euros isn%26#39;t all that much to carry round. And if you don%26#39;t spend it this time keep it for next eurozone trip (or pay for a rail ticket in the UK!)

I%26#39;d suggest bringing some euros with you in any case, if not the full 500 then say 100-150€ rather than having to search for ATM at airport while worrying about luggage,being watched etc (maybe that%26#39;s the paranoid Barcelona resident speaking!). If you do get them in UK make sure largest note is a 50, and if you can get mainly 20%26#39;s and some tens.

Oh, and why does Germany (or anywhere else) being in the euro mean it%26#39;s going to be more expensive than Britain? In most cases some things might be but some will be cheaper.

On the whole in Germany entrances to museums and sights are lower than in Britain; here in Spain public transport is incredibly cheap.

Glad to hear that Berlin is cheapish. After my trip to Amsterdam, it will be a relief to begin to cut costs a little:)

Berlin is a perfect low budget city. It%26#39;s not only cheap in european context but there also many german cities that are more expensive although also Berlin got a little more expensive with the Euro.
