There are so many good doener restaurants in Berlin...but my fovourite is the %26quot;Cem Grill%26quot; in the Danziger Strasse (near Eberswalder Str. Metro station (U2)).

I%26#39;d say that no way that a place in Eberswalde Str (an area with almost no Turks/Arabs) would sell good Doener or Flafel. For that you%26#39;ll have to go to the areas where the local Turks or Arabs eat:

For good Doener:

- Many in Kottbusser Tor, but especially a Doener/Kebab place next to the exit on Admiralstr. It is also very clean.

- The absolutely best Doener IMHO is on Erkstr/Sonnenallee (U-Rathaus-Neukoelln), and is called Tadim (which means %26quot;ours%26quot; in Turkish. They make their own Doener, or so it seems.

For good Flafel:

- Go to Sonnenallee itself. There are two places that come in mind. One is called Zafed (if I am not mistaken) and is close to Weichselstr./Sonnenallee. The other is next to the Andalous, just after Sonnenallee/Pannierastr. The sign is in Arabic. Just hop on the M412 bus (from Hermannplatz) and you%26#39;ll see both of them. (The first would be the one on Sonnenallee/Pannierstr., which is very good). The flafel costs - on the Pannierstr one - 1 EUR and is beyond excellent.

Lylou, good point .... but I don%26#39;t get down to Kreuzberg enough to know what the döners are like there :).

My faves are: Habibi%26#39;s (Schöneberg, across from Winterfeldtplatz, near Nollendorfplatz), another one (forget the name) next to the U-Bahnhof Eberswalderstr (on the east side Schönhauser Allee). There is one more really good one in Prenzlauer Berg but I forget exactly where it is ... I think on Szredkiststr. close to Kollwitzstr.

I%26#39;ve found that throughout Germany that some of the best doner kebabs are in little hole in the wall family owned imbiss stands.

I know with our local doener place that the quality varies considerably with who makes it, and of course they%26#39;re using the identical ingredients. So if you visit one time and get a good or bad one, that may be no guarantee to get the same the next time, although none are really bad, just good or better.
