This is possible.

There are many trains (5-6 hours, 80 Euro)

Check www.bahn.de

Type BASEL not basle

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e

From: Basel SBB

From: Basel Bad Bf

To: Munich

If you like it cheap select as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot; and as departure station Basel Bad Bf. Connections with local trains (S-Bahn, RB, RE, IRE) are pretty good. 6,5 hours - thus only slightly more than with far distance trains (IC/EC, ICE). And the route is also more scenic.

As the 17. June is a Saturday you can use the Happy-Weekend-Ticket (EUR 30,00). This ticket is valid for 1-5 persons. Thus if you can find some co-travellers it will become dead cheap. And it covers also all local public transport in Munich (U-Bahn, trams, buses).

Travel by tram to Basel Bad Bf, this is the DB railway station in Basel. Buy the Happy-Weekend-Ticket from a ticket machine there (at the counter it%26#39;s EUR 2,00 more expensive). You cannot buy the Happy-Weekend-Ticket at Basel SBB - nor does this ticket cover the trip from Basel SBB to Basel Bad Bf.

If it%26#39;s not too late, it may be cheaper to fly directly to Munich.

The best way is get a train from Basel SBB to Zurich Hauptbanhof and then a train to Zurich but there are only 4 trains each day (the 1316 seems best taking just over 4 hours). You will also need to get from Basle Airport which is in France to Basel SBB.
