Suggestions on things to do in Dusseldorf and info about...

My partner and I will be staying in Dusseldorf for the weekend in 2 weeks time. Apart from the beer hall which was suggested on another post e.g.(http://www.uerige.de/en/index.html) can anyone give suggestions on things to do whilst in the Town?

Also, we%26#39;re staying at the %26quot;Friends%26quot; Hotel and have little information other than that which was on the travel agents%26#39; site. Has anyone here stayed there or is there anyone who knows of it and can advise whether it%26#39;s centrally located, near shops, restaurants, pubs, nightlife etc.

close to the Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) and in walking distance of the shopping areas and the Altstadt (old town (pubs, nightlife, ...).

Some ideas on things to do/see in and around Duesseldorf:

The Altstadt - you know about Uerige, but there are a ton of other neat restaurants and bars in the altstadt as well. It%26#39;s a great place to walk around, people-watch and have some great beer any night of the week

The Rhine Promenade - Very pretty place to take a leisurely walk along the Rhine and see the Duesseldorf cityscape and lots of Rhine views. Lots of outdoor cafes as well.

Benrath - in southern Duesseldorf. There is a castle here (Schloss Benrath) with a nice park that borders up to the Rhine. Nice for walking around on a nice day.

Zons - south of Duesseldorf and on the other side of the Rhine. There are a couple spots (one is Urdenbach, just south of Benrath) where you can catch a ferry across the Rhine to Zons. This is an old Roman settlement, again a nice place to see in good weather.
