2 day trip to Berlin in July 06 - too close to soccer world...

We want to avoid the soccer world cup hype but would love to visit berlin while we are in europe for the first two weeks of July 06. Would there be too many crowds in town for the soccer if we arrived in berlin on weds 6th July %26amp; left on Saturday 8th July? We will want to see all the usual tourist sites

There is a quarter final at 30. June in Berlin and the final on the 9. July.

It will possibly not be easy to avoid the World Cup completely as this will be the No. 1 event in Europe at this time. But Berlin should be big enough to give you some space for yourself. There will possibly be %26quot;World Cup villages%26quot; (i.e. food stalls) at some of the sights, but the stadium is far enough away to avoid big crowds. Hotel prices will possibly be more expensive than usual though.
