No real problem to spend 3 days in Munich

it%26#39;s even no problem to spent 3 days in the Deutsches Museum alone

You could visit one of the castles of King Ludwig II

stop: Hohenschwangau

http://www.schlosslinderhof.de/

stop: Schloss Linderhof

http://www.herrenchiemsee.de/

stop: Herreninsel

Or Germany%26#39;s highest peak

www.zugspitze.de/zugspitze/rundreise_en.php

stop: Zugspitze

DB timetable

From: Munich

To: %26lt;one of the above stops%26gt;

Nice offer is the Bavaria Ticket. Valid one day and covering all local trains and all other local public transport (trams, buses) in Bavaria. The version for 2-5 persons is EUR 25,00. On a weekdays this ticket is only valid past 9am.

Not covered are the boats on Lake Chiemsee to Herreninsel and the Zugspitzbahn (cogwheel train/cable cars) to the Zugspitze.

Mandarin Oriental is probably the best hotel in Munich.

But also wombat%26#39;s Munich hostel is really good ;-)

I would follow abalada%26#39;s suggestion and take the train for a day trip to Garmisch (if the weather is clear)and up to the top of the Zugspitze. The Bayern Karte is really a good deal. As I recall, it%26#39;s not valid on the Zugspitzbahn, but that trip is worth whatever you have to pay. From the Garmisch DB station to the Zugspitzbahn station is an easy walk. But do take your Montreal winter boots along. There is likely lot of snow on the Zugspitze, but the walks are usually shoveled.

Is three days too long for Munich? Goodness no! Aside from the museums, you could spend nearly a full day in the churches and another two days in the beer halls. All the castles nearby could keep you busy for a month. If it%26#39;s not too icy, do a city walking tour for a day to get a feel for the city. Take your time through the churches and enjoy the architechture of the buildings. The English Garden has several museums and beer gardens that you may want to visit - I can%26#39;t guarantee that the beer gardens are open during the winter, but some of them have indoor restaurants that may be fun. Of course, you%26#39;ll want to go to the HofBrauHaus for a litre or two and enjoy a stroll up the main shopping street. Have Fun!
