For a match in Gelsenkirchen, where would be the optimal city to stay in for the game? Dortmund, perhaps?
Is there a rail line that would connect Dortmund and Gelsenkirchen?
Any opinion would be great.
THANKS!

Gelsenkirchen and Dortmund are both part of the Ruhr area, the biggest conurbation in Germany. This would be probably in other countries just one city.

Both cities are in the northern part.
They are connected by the
RegionalExpress RE3 line
RegionalBahn RB43 line
S-Bahn S2 line
Dortmund is also a venue city like Gelsenkirchen.
You could place yourself also in cities like Bochum, Essen, Herne, ...
Your entrance ticket is valid for local public transport from anywhere in the VRR area to the stadium.
For further trips you can buy cheap day and mini group (2-5 persons) day tickets for a city or two or the VRR area.
