Landau ad Isar - Any info on this town would be helpful

I know this town is about 45 minutes from Munich. I am going on a tour next summer and I added an extra night on to my vacation to visit the town my Grandfather was born and raised in. I am having difficulty finding out more about this town. I did find accomodations, but I do not want to stay over night there if there is absolutely nothing to do there.

Any help would be appreciated!

There is also a bigger Landau in the Palatinate (near Karlsruhe).

Landau is 120 km from Munich. By train 1:20.

It is in Niederbayern (Lower Bavaria) not in Oberbayern (Upper Bavaria) like Munich.

Two interesting cities closer to Landau:

You mentioned there is a bigger Landau. How far is that from Munich. Maybe I am looking into the wrong town!

The Palatinate is close to the German/French border. Some 325 km from Munich.

Outside Bavaria one certainly would describe Landau a.d. Isar as %26quot;close%26quot; to Munich. Maybe one can make it in the night with a fast BMW from Landau to Munich Airport (which is quite outside Munich) in 45 minutes. But the distance of 120 km is a fact. How much time this needs in the mind of some people is an open question.

I talked to my mom and thank goodness it is Landau-Isar. I went on to Rail Europe and I could not find any train info from Munich to Landau-isar. Is there another website you can suggest to find rail info, times and prices?

The DB timetable knows about all train/tram/bus stops in Germany. Some 400.000. And at the %26quot;Advanced search%26quot; folder you can even search for any address. The system knows about 42 million addresses in Germany.

It the answer is not the desired one, normally misspelling of a name is the cause.
