I agree, we stayed 3 nights at the Hilton Bonn a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. We then tried Cologne and found it to be a dump compared with Bonn.
There was a festival on in the market square, great shopping and a lovely botanical garden. I don%26#39;t know why more people don%26#39;t give Bonn a chance.

Lived in Bonn for a year, and visit there often. Yes, it%26#39;s great, especially with a family.
I think it gets a bum rap because it is not a tremendously interesting place for tourists. One of those places in the world that is spectacular to live in, but visiting leaves one a little underwhelmed.
Still nothing can beat a Radler on a hot day from the Alte Zoll biergarten!
