Thanks for the help...

Hi, also back from Christmas in Berlin and absolutely loved it. Just wanted to thank all who gave advice and info before our trip and especially Berlingal.

We had a brilliant Christmas Day meal at the Opernpalais in Restaurant Louise and had goose - a bit of a challenge but turned out to be really nice. Also, of note is there cafe downstairs in the same building which is a complete paradise of cakes and tortes, etc - the perfect place for afternoon tea.

We found Berlin and Berliners to be very welcoming and a wonderful city to visit. The Christmas markets were fantastic with the best being Gendamenmarkt (1 euro to get in but worth it) and the Opern Palais markets.

We stayed at the Lindnerhotel on the Ku%26#39;damm and it really should be 5 stars not 4. A perfect location to explore and extraordinary city.

The Pergamon and Jewish museums were fantastic and I would highly recommend actually walking on the sculpture of faces in the Jewish Museum as directed by the artist himself if you want any kind of real understanding of the horror of the holocaust. I%26#39;m not really into modern art but this is incredibly emotive and well, actually, a bit traumatic.

There is a huge amount of building work going on and it does seem that it is only relatively recently that the government has realised the value and need to protect the part of their history created by the Berlin Wall period which is a shame but great they are doing it now.

I have wanted to go to Berlin for 15 years and it was fantastic in every way.
