Easter in Berlin

WE will be arriving on Easter Sunday - Are we going to be able to find open restaraunts - supermarkets?

restaurants - of course

supermarkets - the only one open are the ones in airports and major railway stations

Easter-monday all shops exept the ones at aurports/stations will be closed too, as it is a public holiday.

Some restaurants might be closed on Easter Sunday but the majority will be open.

Supermarkets will be closed and not re open until the Tuesday as Easter Monday is a bank holiday as well. You%26#39;ll find smaller shops in the train station where you can find a few basic things. I know only of one supermarket which will probably be open on Easter Sunday. It%26#39;s called Ulrich and is situated opposite the Zoo train station

Public Holidays

On regular German public holidays, the museums are open at normal weekday opening times. Public holidays include:

Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday (always open), May Holiday, Ascension Day, Pentecost Saturday, Pentecost Sunday, Pentecost Monday (always open), Day of German Unity

If public holidays coincide with a Monday (closing day of the museums), alterations are possible closer to the time. In this case see above for special announcements.

Their website doesn%26#39;t state any special opening hours at all. I expect them to be open since they are likely to attract quite a few visitors on a public holiday around that time of the year.

sights, museums as well as the zoo are open ... they might have other opening hours though.

No. Rather the opposite. This is the first peak weekend for such places in the year. And this is also a typical date were sights closed over Winter are re-opened.

We will be arriving on Easter Monday.

Will we be better off arriving (from Amsterdam) late in the afternoon instead of early in the day being that some things might be closed.

I think it doesn%26#39;t make much difference whether you arrive in the morning or in the afternoon in Berlin on Easter Monday. As mentioned before shops will be closed but sights and most restaurants will be open.
