Travelling off the main path

I need to attend a wedding in Emlichheim Germany next December, on the border of Germany and Netherlands. This is apparently a very small town, far off the tourist track. There are no accommodations there and we will have to stay in some place several miles away. We will fly into Amsterdam. We speak no German. Is it possible to arrange to hire a driver for several days? Any advice?

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

From: Schiphol (= Amsterdam Airport)

To: Bahnhof, Emlichheim

Bahnhof = railway station

But there are only buses to Emlichheim, there seems to be no passenger trains on this railway line.

Accommodation

www.emlichheim.de/gastronomie.php…

best is probably to write a mail to Mr. Wösten, the head of the tourism departement

woesten@emlichheim.de

next bigger towns are

http://www.nordhorn.de

http://www.bad-bentheim.de

Grafschaft Bad Bentheim Tourism

grafschaft-bentheim-tourismus.de/default2.ht…

and while the above sites are mostly just in German %26amp; Dutch here something in English

niedersachsen-tourism.de/en/…index.php

Interesting is the Emsland, north-east of Emlichheim

reiseland-niedersachsen.de/regionen-staedte/…

e.g. Clemenswerth Castle, Papenburg

http://www.clemenswerth.de/

http://www.papenburg-tourismus.de/

and also technical sights, like the Transrapid Test Facility

www.transrapid.de/cgi-tdb/en/basics.prg…

or the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg

And on the Durch site e.g. Bourtange Fortress

Hi, it is really easy to drive in the area you are visiting. Getting from Amsterdam to Emlichheim and around that area is really easy and no more difficult than driving around Austin frankly. You need to be careful regarding signs in German but most of them will have an international picture also or will be so obvious that you won%26#39;t need to worry if you study a bit before you go. There is no special driver%26#39;s license needed. You can get information about driving in Europe on the web along with pcitures of the most common signs etc. I can%26#39;t remember the name of the website. You can get maps at Michelin.com that are detailed right to the street address. Maybe you would find it easiest to just rent a car. Hope you have alovely time at the wedding and visiting a lovely part of Germany.
