Hamburg Accomodation

Hi All,

Im visiting Hamburg with 2 friends for 5 days in June.

19th - 24th June to be precise.

Im looking for some relatively inexpensive accomodation, could any nice folks give me some pointers as it seems 3 bed rooms are at a minimum.

We were going to book a 2 bed room and sneak one of the guys in but dont think this would be a great idea.

World Cup accomodation will be at a premium - there is an Etap hotel near the site where the football village is - they do not take bookings more than 3 months ahead, but Etap is cheap. I suggest that you look at the usual hotel websites and take your pick - most hotels in the Hamburg area will be relatively easily linked to the stadium as the public transport system is excellent and cheap cmpared to Scotland. Also there may be hostels that may save you money.

Another suggestion is to base yourself outside Hamburg and travel in. Luneburg and Lubeck are interesting towns in their own right and are less than an hour away by train.

Is Berti Vogts still the Scottish manager? (Just joking - he was rubbish).

Hamburgerman, thank you very much for your detailed reply.

We are flying with Ryanair and as such will be landing in Lúbeck.

The european transport sysytem always amazes me when seen in action as compared to the UK shambles its almost futuristic.

Would towns such as Lúbeck still be easy to reach later at night?

Berti Vogts LOL: He had some good ideas but they were outnumbered by his crazy ideas.

The last regulat train leaves 0h49. But on New Years eve there is an extra train at leaving at 3h00. Maybe this train will run during the worldcup to. But thats only a guess.

You can get the full timetable here (*.pdf):
