How many days for castles/Tegelbergbahn/hiking?

My family is planning on spending 2 days in the Fussen/Hohenschwangau area, and I was wondering if that%26#39;s enough time to see both castles, go up the Tegelbergbahn and possibly do a little hiking around Neuschwanstein.

We%26#39;ll be traveling with 70 year old parents, so we don%26#39;t want to rush too much.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Not sure if you have been yet but we were there 2 years ago.

In view of your comment about your parents you will need a complete day to do the 2 castles. They are about a good 15 minute walk apart up a steady hill. There is a horse %26amp; cart taxi service between the castles. By the time you have waited for the tour at each of the 2 castles %26amp; the taxi up %26amp; down most of the day will have gone. Dont foget to have a look at the bridge near to the top castle.

Phil.

You buy tickets in advance for the tours (for time and language) from the tourist ticket office in Hohenschwangau. Tickets can also be purchased on the internet which may be a better option in summer. Depending on when you visit, all tours may be available, or in busy times, possibly a few or none. You should easily be able to see both Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles in a day, or perhaps just a morning or an afternoon. I personally would spend two nights there, and with your complete day you should be able to do all or most of what you want, and could easily do the rest in another half day and also visit Linderhof.

Both castles are lit up most of the night, so it is pleasant to have a view of them (especially Neuschwanstein) from your room. The Villa Jaegerhaus hotel in Hohenschwangau is excellent for this, and their dining room is also excellent. If possible, also see the musical in Fuessen. You should have a nice time.
