Does anyone know much about this. Wondering if you have to take your own car or can you hire one there, also is there much to do in the town? Many bars or is it better to stay in a larger city and travel to Nuremburg for the racing?

I guess you mean the Nürburgring.
nuerburgring.de/1_nuerburgring/…
Nürburg - where this race track is - is a village with 178 inhabitants in the state Rhineland-Palatinate.
Has nothing to do with Nürnberg (Nuremberg), a city of 500.000, in Bavaria.

There is also a city street race track in Nuremberg, the Norisring.

norisring.de/admin/…Noris_Streckenplan05.pdf
Only in use (i.e. the street is blocked) for races.
Nuremberg as a city is always worth the trip.

I recently read where someong took a ride with a professional driver on I believe the Nuerbergring. Otherwise, I believe that you needed your own car (not a rental!).
