Silly question. Can we get one way train tickets from munich to zurich? We are staying a short time in munich then on to zurich for a motorcycle tour and only need one way tickets. Having never been to Europe we are completely clueless.

thanks

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e

From: Munich

To: Zürich

If you like it cheaper use local trains in Bavaria.

1) Bavaria-Ticket to Lindau

EUR 25,00 for 2-5 persons

Munich to Lindau by local trains needs 3 hours, compared to 2:25 by EC trains.

Use the DB timetable and select as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot; and give as destination: Lindau

Nice town by the way. The railway station is directly next to the harbour on the island.

You can buy the Bavaria-Ticket from any ticket machine in Munich (also a tram and U-Bahn stops).

2) 2 possible routes Lindau to Zürich

2.1) via Bregenz (Austria)

2.2) via Friedrichshafen, ferry Lake Constance, Romanshorn

The more interesting route. Also the shorter router. But due the more changes involved the travel time is nearly the same.

To force this route give at the DB timetable %26quot;Friedrichshafen Hafen%26quot; (the harbour station of Friedrichshafen) as as via station. And check that under products SCHIFF (ship i.e. the ferry) is listed.

The harbour railway station in Friedrichshafen hosts by the way the really interesting

Friedrichshafen is in Baden-Württemberg, no more in Bavaria. Thus you cannot use the Bavaria-Ticket. Just by normal tickets for this short trip. Or if travelling on a Saturday or Sunday by the Happy-Weekend-Ticket (EUR 30,00). Similar to the Bavaria-Ticket but for whole Germany, thus also valid to Friedrichshafen.
