Hotel for my parents - 50 somethings!

My sister and I have been told by my father that he would like us to book a surprise xmas present weekend for himself and mum in Berlin at the end of Jan!

We haven%26#39;t a clue where to send them. Have been reading other reviews and to be honest we can%26#39;t afford SAS Radisson or Kempinski (they sound great though), We have found flights for about £90. for the 2 of them and can really only afford to spend around £200 - £210 on accommodation. Can anyone help? They like nightlife (as in restaurants and music) and I know they want to see Berlin Wall. I just dread the thought of sending them somewhere awful. Thanks.

happymomma~if you book on-line at the Radisson website you can book a room for under 200 euros for two nights. I put in two random days in January and was given a price of 130 euros for a standard room with queen sized bed. Hope you can find a bargain, too.

thank you so much. Not being used to the power of the internet I wouldn%26#39;t have thought to have done this myself. Anyway, have just booked it direct and total cost for weekend works out about £140 each for me and my sister.

many thanks.

Recommendations, based on my own visitors:

High end (but still reasonable pricing):

Swissotel (Close to the Zoo)

Middle Range:

Suite Hotel (next to the Anhalter Bahnhof)

swissotel, swissotel, swissotel

i stayed at all 5 star hotels on my last europe trip, and this hotel was clearly the best

service was great - such a modern looking place, great location (the tour bus is right outside, plus sbahn) and you are right on the kudamm!

If we are not too late for your booking, we fit your parent%26#39;s profile and had a wonderful experience at the Marriott. The hotel is just a year old and is located at Potsdamer Platz and is across the street from a three story mall that has all the conveniences of home. It is a perfect location for walking to the Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust Memorial and the Reichstag. You can get the best rates from their website. A standard room was going for $119 Euro. The upgrade to the concierge floor $165 Euro was worth it as it includes breakfast, free internet, and snacks and drinks all day and in to the evening.
