Hello and Happy New Year!
I%26#39;m arriving at Schonefeld airport next week arround 23.30 and my hotel is in Mitte, Oranienburg. What is the best way to get to the hotel, taxi or train/bus? What time leaves the last train/bus from Schonefeld?
Also, I hear that the weather is pretty bad now in Germany. Will we be able to get around and see the city or we%26#39;ll have to stay in because of the cold and snow?
Thanks

Basically you can get easily by public transport from the Airport Schönefeld to the city centre, even late at night or during the night. You%26#39;ll find a journey planner on www.bvg.de. Anyway, as you arrive quite late at night the trains are not that frequent anymore. Just check the train times before you leave and then you can decide if you take the train or a taxi when you arrive. I arrived at a simliar time a couple of months ago and intended to take the airport express. Anyway, the train was delayed so we took a taxi eventually.
Don%26#39;t worry so much about the weather. It might be not exactly warm in Berlin but there is no need to stay in. The past few days were quite cold with temperatures around -5°C but it was a dry cold with blue sky so quite bearable. Right now it%26#39;s warmer again with temperatures over 0°C. So the last bit of snow will be melting now. Weatherwise you should expect anything from -5°C to +5°C. The weather is usually much nicer (blue sky and sunshine) when it%26#39;s colder. Just take some warm clothes and an umbrella with you and you%26#39;ll be fine. If you get cold you could always visit a museum or have a tea/coffee/hot chocolate in one of the many nice cafes.

We were in Berlin between Christmas and New Year, blizzard conditions, deep snow but it was fabulous, transport kept running, lots of us crazy tourists running from place to place, lots of stops for coffee or hot chocolate, it wasn%26#39;t like our miserable snowy weather all slushy and wet and miserable, it was picture postcard whiteness, I loved it! Don%26#39;t know about last transport but if you are flying easyjet or anything they usually have either dedicated transport to the city centre or time their arrival with transport in place.
