Hi , Me and 3 friends are going over to Berlin from a Thursday night to Sunday morning - can anyone suggest which area to stay in to be within walking distance of good nightlife (any suggestions where to go out also welcomed!), and the best way to get around in the day to see as much as possible! A bit demanding I know but all help appreciated as I have never been to Germany before. Thanks!!

Most of the nightlife takes part in Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain, Mitte and parts of Kreuzberg ... though a lot of other areas have nice bars, pubs and clubs as well. If you stay in any of the mentioned areas you wont have it far to some nightlife. Might be not walking distance but a short ride on the S- or U-Bahn. Berlin has a pretty good public transport system so you%26#39;ll never have problem getting from A to B.

The best idea to start your first visit in Berlin is a walking tour, e.g.

Let me just join Berlingal in her suggestions.
If you need a hotel/hostel/apartment, tell us what you need. I could recommend this one in Prenzlauer Berg
